One of the very few sunrises that I awakened for while we were at sea - Indian Ocean between South Africa and Mauritius - 6:35 a.m. 10/07/05. It usually required coming into port to awaken me for sunrise.

Chris teaching Dan a thing or two about "shooting" the sunset - I could use a few pointers myself.

Sunrise as we approach the west side of the island of Mauritius.

Rico doing what Rico does best. You can't take him anywhere! Look for this boy in the next circus you attend. :o) Photo by Chris Bolin.

Chris is quite excited about his prawns.

Jason De Niro, um, I mean Liquori.

Beth, Jason, and Amy leaving our apartments to spend some quality time bumper tubing and sleeping on the beach. Photo by Chris Bolin.

Unlike the rest of us, Rico doesn't sleep on the beach, he does handstands and then snorkels out as far as the eye can see.
Our view from the beach where we spent 2 relaxing days in Grand Baie (Bay), on the north part of the island of Mauritius.
David, Byron, me, Jason L., Beth, Rico, and Jason V. playing in the water. I think this was one of the most fun days I've ever had at the beach. Good friends, a CRAZY bumper tube ride with 5 of us behind the boat, and the 3:1 male-to-female ratio wasn't so bad either.
After we went waterskiing (my first time skiing on the ocean), Byron took a walk down the beach and photographed this cool shrine.

Sunset, our second day on the beach in Grand Bay.

My first scuba dive in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Grand Baie, Mauritius.

Byron by a river.

Rico, Amy, and Jason at some viewpoint at which our driver dropped us off.
We knew that if we kept following the river downstream, eventually we'd hit a waterfall. We were right! Rico, Amy, and Jason's feet - as far as we could go.
Don't worry mom, I didn't do anything stupid, ...but you get much better pictures when you hang over the edge of the cliff.
More waterfalls at yet another viewpoint where our driver dropped us off.
The coolest thing at the "7 Colors of the Earth" stop were these giant tortoises.
7 Colors of the Earth - the big tourist stop in these parts. It sounded much cooler than it actually was. I could only pick out 5 or 6 different colors of sand/dirt/soil.
